WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP?

Microneedling with PRP is a skin rejuvenation technique that stimulates collagen production by rolling fine needles over the skin.

PRP refers to platelet-rich plasma, a concentrate derived from whole blood that is centrifuged to remove red blood cells. This is used together with the microneedling roller to help enhance the overall result. 

 

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP?

The ideal candidate for microneedling with PRP should:

• Not be pregnant or breastfeeding

• Not have a history of poor wound healing or scars

• Not have undergone skin radiation in the past 12 months

• Not have certain skin conditions such as rosacea or facial eczema

• Not currently have active acne

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP WORK?

PRP microneedling involves around 15-30 minutes of microneedling. Your provider will use a professional-grade FDA-approved microneedling device across the target areas on your face. Prior to your treatment, you will have some blood drawn from your arm. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge which separates the PRP from your red blood cells. This will be massaged into the treatment area after the microneedling process.

Once the microneedling with PRP has finished, your provider will apply a serum to soothe any redness and irritation if needed. You’ll also have the option to apply temporary makeup to cover the side effects on your way home.

 

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?

PRP microneedling treatments are designed to improve scarring on the face and rejuvenate your appearance. You may need to follow up with additional appointments to see better results, and you may need maintenance in the future depending on how your treatment goes. This will be discussed in your initial consultation.

 

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

Recovery is minimal for microneedling with PRP. In most cases, recovery takes just one day and you can return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience minor signs of irritation which can be caused by applying products to your skin. As long as you cleanse your face and moisturize as needed, these effects will quickly subside. Sweating can also cause irritation so exercise and strenuous activities should be avoided for at least 72 hours.
